Grenoble
DieWarm up with an easy first ride that combines woodland with wide open spaces commanding exceptional views over the eastern ridges of the Vercors mountains. After the Bois-Noir, you will begin a climb between the Blancs hamlets and Allières lookout point to end with an exhilarating downhill ride to Les Cochettes and Villard-de-Lans, the main town of the Vercors range, and ski resort next to Corrençon-en-Vercors.
Corrençon-en-Vercors, northern gateway to the Hauts-Plateaux du Vercors nature reserve, welcomes you onto wide tracks in open spaces and forestland. Take a break to photograph the Malaterre scialet, an impressive natural well. A hard climb up the Malaterre and Herbouilly passes awaits you, followed by a descent to the plains and La-Chapelle-en-Vercors.
MyTripTailor advice : Some major résistance sites at La Chapelle-en-Vercors and the Grotte de Luire towards Vassieux-en-Vercors are well worth exploring.
This last stage, after Vassieux-en-Vercors, features the mythical La Chau cycling pass (1,337m). It will take you past windswept scenery and forest trails, along a wide, relatively easy track. You will then be ready to climb the Rousset pass (1,254m) before heading down to Marignac through black pine forest. The path to Chamaloc crosses fields of lavender and sunflowers. On arrival at Die, treat yourself to a well-earned feast to celebrate !
