Le Puy-en-Velay Clermont-Ferrand

Day 1 - Le Puy-en-Velay - Ambert

Take the time to visit the splendid town of Puy-en-Velay, famous pilgrimage point of the Santiago-de-Compostela, before reaching the heights of Forez in Puy-de-Dôme. Your route alternates between sweeping bends and small tight turns, plateaus, gorges and pine forests. Stop off at the Basilica of Saint-Julien in Brioude, the largest Romanesque church in Auvergne, to admire its 12th and 13th century frescoes. Your destination is Ambert, where you can taste its famous fourme and girolle mushrooms.

  • Distance : 210 km

Day 2 - Ambert - Vichy

A seemingly non-stop succession of bends lead you to the midway-point of the commune of Thiers, the cutlery hot spot. En route you pass several villages of interest such as Courpière in the heart of the Lavradois-Forez Natural Park and Saint-Just-en-Chevaleret, nestled at an altitude of 600 to 900 metres in the Monts de la Madeleine. Enjoy your evening in Vichy, exploring its architectural heritage and thermal baths, before ending with a gentle stroll through Parc Napoléon and Parc Kennedy.

Day 3 - Vichy - Clermont-Ferrand

Begin with a rugged ride in the midst of swirling rivers, the gorges of Sioule and the dizzying viaduct of Fades. Superb panoramas await, particularly on the Queuille meander.
